Dennis sat quietly in a chair with his feet curled beneath him. His wide eyes followed everything happening around him with curiosity.
He was at Chogoria Hospital for his final chemotherapy treatments for Hodgkin lymphoma.
Not long before, Dennis had struggled to breathe. The swelling in his throat had become so severe that his family feared for his life. They needed skilled medical care — and they needed it quickly.
The oncology team at Chogoria Hospital was ready.
Through outpatient treatment and attentive care, Dennis began to recover. The swelling eased, and he could breathe normally again. Now, he is completing the final treatments prescribed by his care team.
But Dennis and his family received more than medical treatment.
Throughout a frightening season, the hospital staff prayed with them, encouraged them, and walked alongside them. Nurses and clinicians cared for Dennis’s physical needs while offering the compassion and spiritual support that reminded his family they were not alone.
Soon, Dennis hopes to return to the familiar rhythms of childhood: attending school, helping with chores at home, and playing with his friends.
His father expressed deep gratitude for the oncology team that cared for his son and gave their family reason to look forward with hope.
Dennis received the excellent medical care he needed and the spiritual support that reminded his family they were not alone.
Dennis’s story reflects why MBF partners with Christian hospitals such as Chogoria. By strengthening healthcare ministries, equipping clinicians, and encouraging the integration of spiritual care, MBF helps local healthcare workers provide excellent care while extending the hope of Jesus to patients and families.
