Where Healing Takes Root
For more than 60 years, MBF has partnered with Christian healthcare ministries in more than 30 countries. Today, we are strengthening healthcare in a growing number of countries while exploring where this proven approach can serve communities next.
Local Challenges. Enduring Solutions.
Healthcare challenges look different in every country. Some hospitals face severe workforce shortages. Others are navigating conflict, unreliable infrastructure, limited clinical capacity, or fragile organizational systems.
MBF listens first, works through trusted local Christian partners, and responds to the barriers that keep hospitals from providing dependable, excellent care. Each partnership is shaped by local needs and strengthened through MBF's three interconnected areas of impact.
Wherever MBF works, the goal remains the same: stronger healthcare ministries, equipped healthcare workers, excellent care, and the hope of Jesus for generations.
Where We Work Today

Democratic Republic of Congo
In a country of 92 million people with severely limited access to healthcare, MBF partners with IMCK Good Shepherd Hospital and the CPK health clinics in Kinshasa to strengthen clinical care, train nurses, and build institutions that serve communities largely unreached by any other healthcare provider. The work in DRC is long-term, relationship-driven, and rooted in the conviction that the Church can be the most reliable healthcare system the country has.

By Country
Strengthening Healthcare, Country by Country
Every partnership begins with understanding the barriers patients and healthcare workers face. MBF then works alongside local Christian healthcare ministries to develop solutions that strengthen the entire healthcare system.

Eswatini
The Challenge
Across Eswatini, rural communities face significant barriers to healthcare, including distance, transportation costs, shortages of healthcare professionals, and unequal access to specialized care. At the same time, the country continues to face a substantial burden from HIV, tuberculosis, cancer, and a growing prevalence of chronic diseases.

MBF partners with The Luke Commission to strengthen access to excellent, Christ-centered healthcare across Eswatini. Kenya
The Challenge
Across Kenya, hospitals face growing demand for quality healthcare while shortages of trained healthcare professionals and uneven access to specialized care continue to strain the system. Christian hospitals and nursing schools play a critical role, particularly for communities where dependable, high-quality care can be difficult to access.
How MBF Helps
MBF's work in Kenya centers on strengthening the Presbyterian Church of East Africa's network of hospitals and nursing schools, including the Kikuyu Hospital School of Nursing near Nairobi. By investing in clinical training, leadership development, and quality improvement systems, MBF is helping Kenyan healthcare institutions raise the standard of care they deliver to patients across the country, generation after generation.

Malawi
The Challenge
Malawi's severe shortage of healthcare professionals places extraordinary demands on hospitals, nurses, and other healthcare workers. Mission hospitals must serve large communities while navigating limited resources, aging infrastructure, and gaps in specialized clinical care.
How MBF Helps
MBF partners with five mission hospitals and three nursing colleges to strengthen an interconnected Christian healthcare system.

Mozambique
The Challenge
Across Mozambique, conflict, displacement, recurring cyclones, and limited healthcare resources have placed significant strain on an already fragile health system. In many communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas, access to dependable healthcare remains limited, and health facilities face shortages of trained professionals, equipment, and essential services.
How MBF Helps
As MBF discerns the right local partners, the goal remains the same: strengthening healthcare institutions, training healthcare professionals, and building the kind of sustainable, Church-rooted systems that can endure for generations.
Building on Experience. Going Where God Leads Next.
The need for compassionate, Christ-centered healthcare continues to grow.
As God opens new opportunities, MBF is prayerfully discerning where this proven model can strengthen additional Christian healthcare ministries around the world.
Wherever God leads, our calling remains the same:
- Strengthen local leaders.
- Pursue excellence in medicine.
- Share the hope of Jesus.
- Build healthcare that endures for generations.
Because we believe people should never have to choose between excellent medical care and the hope that is found in Jesus.
