Cameron Dezfulian, MD, FAHA, FACC, FAAP, is Director of Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program Development at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. He is a dual board-certified adult and pediatric critical care physician, and his clinical practice focuses on caring for adults and children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease.
Dr. Dezfulian serves as Senior Faculty in the Division of Critical Care Medicine in the Departments of Pediatrics and Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine, where he is actively involved in patient care, education, and mentorship for medical students, residents, and fellows. His academic work centers on improving outcomes in critically ill ACHD patients and after cardiac arrest; this includes translational and clinical research on cardiac and post-resuscitation critical care, nitrite and nitric oxide signaling, and protection against global ischemia–reperfusion injury.
He completed his medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine, followed by combined internal medicine and pediatrics training (Michigan) and subspecialty training in adult (NIH) and pediatric (Johns Hopkins) critical care, and has been in academic practice since 2008. Dr. Dezfulian is a fellow of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and American Academy of Pediatrics, and contributes to national guidelines and writing groups focused on resuscitation and critical care.
Dr. Dezfulian has been active in the Christian Medical Dental Association, hosting student groups and leading discussions for the past 15 years. He served on the faculty of the CMDE conference for 7 years and has participated in short-term missions in Haiti, Bolivia, and, most recently, teaching at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya. He is a volunteer physician at Casa El Buen Samaritano in Houston, TX, and is married with three children.
