Medical Benevolence Foundation ("MBF," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our website, donates to our mission, or communicates with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
By using the Site or submitting information to MBF, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
01Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, including when you:
- Make a donation through our giving form (name, email address, mailing address, phone number, payment information, recurring donation preferences, and transaction history)
- Sign up for our newsletter or email communications (name, email address, communication preferences)
- Submit a contact form or prayer request (name, email address, message content)
- Register for an event or mission trip opportunity
- Download a resource, such as a prayer journal or annual report
- Communicate with MBF staff by email or phone
MBF understands that prayer requests may contain sensitive personal information. Prayer requests are treated with care and shared only as necessary to respond to ministry needs.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- Approximate geographic location inferred from IP address
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs
- Device identifiers
This information is collected using cookies and similar tracking technologies. See Section 5 for more information about cookies.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party sources, such as our payment processor when a donation is completed, or from publicly available sources when conducting donor research for major gift purposes. Any such information is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
02How We Use Your Information
We use donor information primarily to communicate ministry impact, stewardship updates, prayer opportunities, and ways to support MBF's mission.
MBF uses the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Processing and acknowledging your donations and issuing tax receipts
- Communicating with you about MBF's programs, impact stories, prayer requests, and fundraising campaigns
- Sending newsletters and email updates through Mailchimp
- Responding to your inquiries, contact form submissions, and prayer requests
- Maintaining and updating donor records in our Salesforce CRM
- Analyzing website usage to improve the Site experience
- Complying with legal obligations and nonprofit reporting requirements
- Detecting and preventing fraud or unauthorized activity
03How We Share Your Information
3.1 We Do Not Sell Donor Information
MBF does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We are committed to the donor privacy standards set forth by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights.
3.2 Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Site and carrying out our mission. These vendors are contractually required to protect your information and may not use it for any purpose other than providing services to MBF. Current service providers include:
- Salesforce: Donor relationship management and records
- Mailchimp: Email marketing and newsletter distribution
- Click & Pledge: Secure processing of online donations
- Google Analytics: Website usage analytics (see Section 5)
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of MBF, its staff, partners, or the public.
3.4 Organizational Transfers
In the event of a merger, restructuring, or transfer of MBF's assets to another nonprofit organization, donor information may be transferred as part of that process. We will provide notice in such circumstances.
04Email Communications
4.1 Newsletters and Updates
If you subscribe to MBF communications, you will receive emails about our programs, impact stories, prayer requests, and giving opportunities. Email communications are sent through Mailchimp.
4.2 Transactional Emails
Donation receipts, event confirmations, and responses to contact form submissions are transactional communications and are not subject to marketing opt-out requirements. However, we will always include contact information if you wish to reach us.
4.3 Unsubscribing
You may unsubscribe from MBF marketing emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any email or by contacting us at hello@mbf.org. We will process your request promptly. Please allow up to 10 business days for opt-outs to take effect. Unsubscribing from marketing emails will not affect the receipt of transactional communications.
05Cookies and Tracking Technologies
5.1 What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience on the Site, understand how visitors use the Site, and support advertising efforts through the Google Ad Grant program.
5.2 Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential cookies: Required for basic site functionality, such as maintaining session state
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics collects aggregated data about how visitors use the Site (pages visited, time on site, traffic sources). This data does not identify individual users
- Advertising cookies: Through the Google Ad Grant, we may use cookies to measure the effectiveness of our nonprofit advertising campaigns
Some pages on the Site may include embedded content or third-party services, such as videos, maps, donation forms, or social media integrations, that may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
5.3 Managing Cookies
You may disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Site. You may also opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
06Data Security
MBF takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Online donations are processed over encrypted connections using industry-standard security protocols. We do not store credit card or payment account information on our servers.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong passwords and exercise caution when sharing personal information online.
07Data Retention
MBF retains donor records for a minimum of 7 years to comply with nonprofit recordkeeping requirements and IRS regulations. Contact form submissions, prayer requests, and general inquiries are typically retained for up to 2 years unless a longer retention period is necessary for legal, operational, or ministry-related purposes. You may request that we update or delete your personal information by contacting us as described in Section 10, subject to our legal recordkeeping obligations.
08Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at hello@mbf.org, and we will promptly delete such information.
09State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information under applicable privacy laws, including the right to access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of your information.
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (MBF does not sell personal information). To exercise your rights under California law, please contact us at hello@mbf.org. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.
10Your Choices and Rights
Regardless of your location, you may:
- Request access to the personal information MBF holds about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal recordkeeping obligations
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Request that we limit our use of your information
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 11. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

12Changes to This Privacy Policy
MBF may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. We will post the revised policy on the Site with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
