Kikuyu Hospital, owned by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) is the oldest mission hospital in Kenya. It serves a catchment area of over 500,000 people and is located about 20 km from Nairobi. A satellite clinic, Matasia Health Center offers primary care and eye services in Kajiado County. The hospital provides many services, including a 24-hour emergency and casualty center. In addition to general medicine, trauma surgery, and maternity services, Kikuyu Hospital has specialty units including Dental, Ophthalmic, Renal and Orthopedic. The hospital treats many pediatric patients suffering from eye diseases and from orthopedic injuries and illnesses. At the Rehabilitation Centre, patients can receive Orthopedic services for conditions not related to trauma, including physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and prosthetic services. The nearby PCEA Kikuyu Hospital School of Nursing is accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
