Hospitals and Clinics
The Presbyterian Community of Kinshasa (CPK) is MBF’s partner in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa.. Home to over 15 million people, Kinshasa is the most populous city in Africa. DR Congo is one of the poorest countries in Africa with 80% of the population surviving on less than $1.25 per day. MBF’s seven partner health centers, or clinics, provide care in heavily populated disadvantaged neighborhoods.
The health centers offer outpatient services including laboratory, maternity, and primary health care services. Each center has a full-time doctor on staff and six of the seven health centers provide C-section deliveries for Moms..
All Moms also receive a Safe Motherhood Kit™ with post-delivery supplies which help to reduce the incidence of infections. Though DR Congo has one of the highest maternal death rates in the world, these clinics have had only 5 maternal deaths in 20 years of operation.
