The Institut Médical Chrétien du Kasai (IMCK) or Chrisitian Medical Institute of Kasai  was founded in the Congo (now Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1954. Located in Tshikaji, about 10 miles outside Kananga, it is co-located with the IMCK Good Shepherd Mission Hospital.

IMCK includes two schools, the Medical Technical Institute or ITM and the Superior Medical Technical Institute or ISTM. The ITM offers both a high-school level nursing school and a laboratory technician school. The ISTM is a university-level nursing school opened in 2010 and offering BS degrees in health care management, midwifery, laboratory sciences and pediatric nursing. The ISTM buildings were built via a USAID ASHA grant facilitated and managed by MBF.

Today there are over 400 students enrolled at the two schools, including 23 Mary K scholars.

92 million people call the DR Congo home, but their conditions are often hard. The country has the second highest infant mortality rate in the world, a high incidence of malnutrition, and the fourth highest malarial death rate in the world. Nurses, laboratory technicians, and midwives are all desperately needed.
